Today, the Reno Housing Authority started accepting applications for their affordable housing programs. This is great news for people in the community who are finding it hard to afford a place to live.

The Authority has been working with local leaders to create more affordable places to live, and now, they're ready to take applications from people who need these homes.

The applications for the housing lists will be open until April 25th. If you're interested in applying or want more information, you can find what you need through a link provided by the authority.

For those who prefer, there are also help kiosks available in the main lobby of the housing authority or at the downtown Reno Library.

Dr. Hilary Lopez, who leads the Reno Housing Authority, shares that they have been serving the community for over 80 years and they take pride in their efforts to increase the availability of affordable housing

Dr. Lopez mentioned that they are currently starting to build 200 new homes at a site where there used to be 100. They've also recently added 15 affordable apartments in downtown Sparks.

The issue of affordable housing is very important to the Reno Housing Authority because it helps prevent homelessness and assists those who are struggling to find a place they can afford.

With 22 different lists waiting for applicants, the Reno Housing Authority offers several housing options throughout the county. Dr. Lopez explains that while some of the lists are for housing vouchers that allow people to choose their own place in the private market, the currently open lists are for specific homes and apartments managed by the authority or its partners.

This opening is a significant opportunity for people looking for affordable housing solutions in the area.
